Social Cultural and Humanitarian Committee

Overview

The global population is slowly becoming more aware of the severe effects of climate change and displacement. In 20 years or less, we will not be able to still call “countries” the ones that are now facing the serious threat of sinking.

Because of this, it is crucial for the international community to take action so that millions of people will not be forcefully displaced, but rather have time to adapt to the new challenges in a harmonious way.

Raising global awareness of the significance of sunken cultural heritage and involving decision-makers in the process of protecting these cultural treasures are imperative given the risen interest in undersea cultural heritage over the past few decades.

The Social Cultural and Humanitarian committee will have the role of establishing frameworks and programs tackling an issue never solved before in order to prevent the erasure of thousands of years of history.

Chairpersons

Denisa Ghionea

Greetings, prospective delegates! I’m Denisa and I am a senior at “Vasile Alecsandri” National College. I am beside myself with happiness to be one of the chairpersons of the SOCHUM committee alongside two amazing and dedicated people🤍 MUNs have grown on me some much in time that I cannot express my enthusiasm to take part in such conferences. It is my utmost pleasure to show the delegates the ropes of the MUN world. I will do my best to offer you the best experience, including both diplomacy and fun times. A little about me, I am proactive, always searching for new things to do, but I cannot work without a good cup of coffee:) I love reading, traveling and of course debating. I cannot wait to meet you all!

Vlad Matei

Hello everyone! My name is Matei, I am a junior at CNILC Ploiesti, and more than delighted to be one of the chairpersons of the 19th edition of GalMUN. The SOCHUM Committee has been, ever since the beginning of my MUN journey, the one that I look toward with the most enthusiasm, and I wish to share this passion with every delegate. I am more than hopeful that, alongside my two amazing co-chairs, we will be able to provide the best experience throughout the four days of debate. Besides MUNs and WSDCs, some of my other passions include history, religions, languages, and sociology. Cannot wait to meet you all!

Maria-Eliza Vasilache

Greetings! I’m Maria, a junior at “Vasile Alecsandri” National College, and I will be chairing the SOCHUM committee alongside the wonderful Denisa and Matei. Besides conferences, my passions include volunteering, reading, robotics, and traveling. I’m beyond grateful to be a first-time chair at the very same conference that piqued my interest in MUNs, especially considering the topic at hand. This edition of GalMUN will enchant more delegates than ever, and I’m glad to be part of the team that brings its magic to life!
