Security Council
Overview
Twenty-six kilometers long, the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait is responsible for most exports of petroleum and natural gas from the Persian Gulf. Due to its crucial geographic position, the Gate of Lamentation acts as a strategic link bewteen a multitude of countries. Now, recent drone attacks on commercial shipping have brought this small geographical chokepoint to the forefront of the international community. It is future delegates’ responsibility to debate these issues in the Security Council, and settle any and all tensions present!

After attending several MUNs, and organizing a few, I feel more than excited to chair again. I have loved debating since my first speech as a delegate, and now I am dedicated to my role as a chairperson. Quick on my feet and with a critical eye, I won’t let anything stop me from making the 19th edition of GalMUN a memorable experience for the delegates in the Security Council!Maria Gâtin
Hello everyone! My name is Maria, I am 17 years old and a junior at Vasile Alecsandri National College in Galati. I am confident I will be able to do my best to fulfill all of my duties conscientiously, contribute to a harmonious course of events during the conference and help the delegates feel a bit more at ease in times of stress and frustration. It is this exact conference that first offered me the chance to travel the world through words and imagination, whilist striving for justice, and I sincerely hope that it will do the same for all of you!
